AIDS Treatment in the Western Cape |

Since One to One Children's Fund (121 CF) began funding Anti Retroviral Treatment (ART) for children in Cape Town's Groote Schuur Hospital in May 2002, nearly 200 HIV+ children have been started on ART at Groote Schuur, as well as 35 children at Nazareth House orphanage and more than 60 HIV+ mothers of infected children.

Java earthquake appeal |

Thousands of children are left injured, homeless or orphaned by the recent earthquake in Java. It is vital that, in the next few weeks, projects are put in place that will help them to be kept safe from further harm. We have identified potential partners and projects on the ground, and our development volunteer, Nick Clements, will be there to help ensure that once again our support reaches those children who are most in need.

Giving Peace a Fighting Chance |

Together with One to One, Budo for Peace has this year created three twinned dojos (martial arts schools), where Israeli and Palestinian children can train together in an atmosphere of respect and safety. In addition to learning martial arts skills, the 62 students, who all come together bi-monthly, are learning to foster feelings of mutual respect for and confidence building in each other.

PATA 2007, the third annual PATA forum, takes place in Swaziland from 27 November to 1 December (World AIDS Day). PATA is a One to One Children's Fund initiative that brings together more than 50 paediatric HIV clinic teams from 20 African countries to build a network of care providers who share experience and best practice across the continent.

On March 8th, 2004, the premier of the Western Cape of South Africa, Marthinius van Schalkwyk, announced that Anti Retroviral (ARV) treatment would be extended to include every child under the age of 14 who needs it.
